Styles and Techniques of Massage

Every massage given is a unique experience, tailored to the specific needs of each
client.  Depending on the desired achieved results, a variety of styles may be utilized
in each session. Techniques are taken from (alphabetically) Acupressure,
Aromatherapy, Deep Tissue, Hot Stone Therapy, Hydrotherapy, Lomi Lomi,
Neuromuscular Therapy, Prenatal Massage, Raindrop Therapy, Reflexology, Shiatsu,
Sports Massage and Swedish Massage.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue is a medium to heavy pressure massage. It begins by using broad, firm
strokes to warm up the topmost layers. Then, working with the client's breath,
gradually applying heavier pressure to reach the deeper layers. Depending on the
client's preference of pressure and tolerance level, "knots" and trigger points may be
worked using various techniques. Pressure resumes to a broad, warming touch to
soothe the various layers and erase the "good pain" from the muscle memory.

Hot Stone Therapy

Neuromuscular Therapy

Prenatal Massage

For expectant mommies at all stages of pregnancy, this is a wonderful way to relax
and relieve those aches and pains. Most massages are performed with the client lying
on her side with top the leg bent and scissored forward. Supporting pillows are placed
beneath the body in necessary areas to support the neck and spine, limbs, and of
course the baby. Certain medical conditions during pregnancy may contraindicate
massage. If you have any known conditions, check with your doctor first for approval
before your appointment.

Raindrop Therapy

The Raindrop Therapy technique uses a sequence of highly anti-microbial essential
oils in order to reduce inflammation, . The nine oils are dispensed like drops of rain
from about six inches above the back, massaged along the spine and over the rest of
the back. A hot compress is then applied to facilitate absorption of the oils and relax
the muscles.

Sports Massage

Swedish Massage

Swedish Massage uses long and rhythmic gliding strokes with a light- pressure touch.
Helps to relieve stress, promotes relaxation and increases circulation. An excellent
"TLC" massage.
